Having dipped my toe into the travel pond earlier this year it really hit me that there are some spectacular places in the world and given the chance there is a long list of places I would love to visit. On Sunday I discovered the incredible travel blog A Lady in London and, after reading many of the amazing posts over there, I decided to make my post this week a top five of the places I'd most like to see next...
1. New York
I know, I know, I know - it's such a cliché, but New York has been sitting right there at the top of my travel list for as long as I can remember. It's somewhere I desperately want to see at least once in my life - the buzz in the city must be amazing. Central Park, Times Square, Grand Central Station, the Guggenheim - I want a photo of myself in all of these places! My friend Roisin's recent New York vlog had me ready to book a flight there and then.

2. Iceland
I've always thought there is something incredibly magical about Iceland. The idea of swimming in the volcanically heated pools, surrounded by the beautiful landscape is something that has always appealed to me. Laugardalslaug is said to be the biggest and best equipped outdoor swimming complex, so it has now been added to my list! The photo below isn't of that particular area - I just thought it was a stunning photo and exactly the image of the Icelandic landscape I have in my head.

3. Hawaii
This might seem like a daft reason for having Hawaii in my top five but, due to my obsession with Lost, over the past few years I've had such an urge to visit Hawaii and (if possible) go to the beach a lot of it was filmed on. It's such a beautiful place, and I feel like it would be another experience like visiting Palm Beach in Sydney (a.k.a. Summer Bay from Home and Away!) - being at the other side of the world but walking around somewhere so completely familiar.

4. Switzerland
There's something about the combination of the landscape and the architecture in Switzerland that I'm just totally drawn to. One of my friends went there on holiday last year and I was wildly jealous of her beautiful photos! I could spend hours looking at these gorgeous pictures on Pinterest (take me there now! To Switzerland, not Pinterest)...

5. Thailand
Once again, thanks to the stunning photos several friends of mine have uploaded to Facebook, I would love to visit Thailand. I think it would be an amazing cultural experience, but also... take a moment to just appreciate how utterly gorgeous these photos are! Two of the girls I travelled to Australia with went to Thailand earlier this year and they had the most amazing time.

So that's it for my top 5 travel destinations - where in the world would you like to visit the most?

Washington DC is big on my list, for some reason the glamor of New York doesn't attract me but all the history and museums of DC is calling my name!

Lovely pick! I hope to see some posts about trips to all these destinations in the future! ;-) I would love to go to Australia, would absolutely love to visit Kingsford :-) xx
ReplyDeleteHubby and I are planning on going to America next year. NY is definitely top of my list and we are hoping to spend a couple of days there. I would also love to go to the Seychelles or the Maldives on a really relaxing amazing beach holiday. I lived in Switzerland for a couple of years and absolutely loved it!!!!!! I would love to go back there. I was based in Zurich for 6 months but then spent 18months in rural Switzerland in a village called Feldbach near Rapperswil. Amazing time and such beautiful scenery. Think quite fondly on my time there. Esp waking every morning to the sounds of cow bells!!!!!!! making me nostalgic just writing about it....
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the kind words about my blog! I'm glad you found some travel inspiration from it, and I hope you are able to visit all five of your top places someday!
ReplyDeleteLovely choices - my list would read quite similarly (I have actually been to Switzerland but I was four so can barely remember it haha). xx
